Tummy Tuck Procedure

General anesthesia is generally used for tummy tuck to ensure our Tampa patients are comfortable during the procedure. Tummy tuck utilizes an incision on the lower abdomen. The incision from tummy tuck typically creates a scar along the bikini line. Excess skin and fat are removed to get the abdomen to its desired, slimmer form. Once the excess skin and fat are removed, stretched, weakened muscles are repaired for a firmer sculpted appearance. Due to the amount of skin and fat removed, the belly button will often be moved during surgery. The belly button will be placed in its natural position once the abdomen is slimmed to the desired shape. Swelling and bruising are typical after tummy tuck, but these symptoms will eventually subside. Patients should avoid strenuous activities generally 4-6 weeks after surgery. MINI TUMMY TUCK PROCEDURE

Mini tummy tuck is a suitable procedure for those that seek transformative results, but don’t require as much excess skin and fat to be removed. With a mini tummy tuck, a smaller incision is used along the waistline. The belly button will not have to be relocated during the procedure. Once the incision is made by our Tampa plastic surgeons, the abdominal wall is accessed to remove any unwanted fat and skin. Any damaged or stretched muscles are then repaired so that the abdomen can be sculpted and tightened.

CANDIDATES FOR TUMMY TUCK

The best candidates for tummy tuck are patients that would like to slim down areas of stomach bulging and remove lax skin. Patients who have tried to shape the waistline with diet and exercise but have not seen the results they desire may also be tummy tuck candidates. Tummy tuck is often recommended to Tampa patients following pregnancy and significant weight loss to repair abdominal muscles and treat excess skin.
